Ewang'an

Definition

Ewang'an means “sun” or “sunlight.”

(Maa – the language of the Maasai) meaning “sun” in Maa, the language of the Maasai.
In our culture, it is the warmth that nurtures life, the light that shows the way.
For the children of Selela & the wider region, it is the promise of a brighter future – carried in the gift of education.

A Light That Guides

In the heart of Selela village stands Ewang’an School, a dream born from Reuben Lengooyo’s own journey through the hills of Monduli, where education was once out of reach for many.

What began in 2016 beneath the shade of an acacia tree has grown into a place of promise, a thriving school now home to more than a 126 children from across northern Tanzania.

Here, children who might never have had the chance to learn find a safe space to grow, to question, and to dream.

Each lesson taught, each meal shared, each sunrise over Selela is a quiet reminder that when one child learns, an entire community begins to rise.

Our Mission

To break the cycle of poverty through education — empowering children to lead, serve, and shape a brighter tomorrow.
At Ewang’an, we believe that every child deserves not only knowledge but also the confidence to stand tall in their identity and the courage to follow their own path.
